  • New Toy in the Box

Picturebox is one of the first places in town to use the new Sony FS100 digital camera. We could bore you with technical blahblahblah about CMOS sensors and E-Mount lenses, but you'd be better off just looking at the pretty pictures shot by cinematographer David Layton at local boutique nursery Big Red Sun.

A Journalist Continues His Work
March 6, 2012 Posted by: David

Last summer I took our brand new camera (the Sony FS100) to Ocean Grove, New Jersey and shot some footage of my father talking about the volunteer reporting he does for a local blog. I had outfitted the camera with a bunch of Zacuto components — a first for me — and I needed an excuse to get comfortable with the new rig before starting on a new feature documentary project (Sam Douglas’s new ‘Land Art’ doc). We spent a few leisurely days just walking around town, shooting video and talking about his career in journalism and the pro bono writing and reporting he does now. I really enjoyed hearing about all that, and I find as I watch this footage that I’m very proud of my father and what he stands for.

Storytellers with a documentary bent.

Our idea of fun? Telling stories that fascinate. We are filmmakers with a passion for putting together compelling narratives, and we have a great time doing it. Whether it’s a last-minute road trip to shoot an interview or late nights in the edit suite to meet a deadline (fueled by East Side Pies and Rio Blanco Pale Ale), we delight in sweating every creative detail and clearing each technical hurdle. Great nonfiction storytelling thrives at Picturebox. Come let us tell your story.
